Avianne Charles is a local, talented young artist. For the past four years, she has been painting in mediums such as watercolor, acrylic and occasionally drawing using pencil, charcoal or pastels. Avianne’s passion began from childhood and she has thus developed greater skills during her attendance to art class.
In 2012, Charles won first place in her very first art competition , “One Book, One Community”. With an increased spark of interest, she continued participating in competitions and marketing her work all the while becoming a member of the Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago. There Avianne participated in exhibitions such as “Black” in December 2015.
“Painting is a relaxing activity for me, of course when I am not overthinking the accuracy of the work itself. Painting is a great means of self-expression, which allows me to outpour thoughts, feelings, all creative ideas and sometimes expectations of what I truly envision”, Charles told OMG.
Avianne is currently working on her first solo art exhibition titled “Observations”. It portrays a series of work based on society. It focuses on the recognition of mental health, societal issues and the expectancy of greater within people.
