Rembunction brings out our Christmas Spirit

Born Roland Yearwood , this gifted artist really isn’t new to the musical landscape at all, having been involved in music and the arts from a very young age, he has worked in all aspects of multimedia and music. RemBunction got his start singing in school talent shows and got his first accolades at the age of 11 when he won the Trinidad and Tobago music festival in the boys 11-14 category. Since then he has enjoyed success as an actor, director, playwright, videographer, cartoonist, animator, singer and songwriter.

As part of his high school steel drum ensemble (the Trinity College Pan ensemble) he toured Germany and the USA in the early 90’s and also had several star turns in his school’s theatrical productions. RemBunction eventually also tried his hand at playwriting, the result was a successful comedic piece entitled, I Created A Monster which played to packed audiences during its brief run. This was followed by a recording contract with Amar Studios, under it’s upstart label Kisskidee Records as part of the then very popular Kisskidee Karavan. This was a traveling show that comprised several up and coming Trinidadian solo artists and acts and RemBunction was then part of MDE (Mello Dynamic Entity) An R&B influenced group garnering favorable radio airplay with their single Mello Melody.

Since then Rem has been a successful cartoonist creating “Survival Business” for the Trinidad Guardian and the teen favourite “Reminabox” for The Trinidad Express’ Vox Magazine. He has produced and directed numerous music videos for other local and regional artistes; enjoyed success as a recording artiste with songs like Mister Santa Claus (socks and Drawers), Macafouchette and Roti and Kuchela and fostered a great relationship with Invaders Steel Orchestra penning their Panorama song for the past four years.
