The Trinidad and Tobago Fashion Company (FashionTT) recently celebrated the culmination of its Value Chain Investment Programme (VCIP) with a Certificate Distribution Ceremony held on Saturday, November 25th, at the Hilton Trinidad. This event aimed to recognise and honour 70 designers who underwent personalised business coaching from seasoned professors in entrepreneurship, all under the auspices of the University of the West Indies.

The designers were lauded for their dedication to the program, focusing on enhancing their businesses’ value chain aspects with their mentors’ guidance. Notably, four designers received special awards in different categories: Shanice and Sheneika McDonald of RackPDH for Top Sales Performance, Shivonne Subero of SS Label for HR Development, Zidelle Daniel of 1491 Denim for E-Commerce, and Wendy Hodge of Wendy’s Fashion for Most Improved Entrepreneur.

The ceremony, hosted by local fashion industry luminary Richard Young, commenced with opening remarks from FashionTT’s Chairman, Jason Lindsay. He expressed the organisation’s ongoing commitment to drive business development and growth in the industry. Lindsay highlighted the importance of perseverance and collaboration with stakeholders, acknowledging the continuous support from the Ministry of Trade & Industry.

Other speakers at the event included Dr. Acolla Lewis-Cameron, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at The UWI, and Nyron Mohammed, Director of Industries at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The success of the VCIP was emphasised, thanks to the ongoing support of both the Ministry of Trade and Industry and The UWI.

FashionTT extended its gratitude to sponsors who contributed to the event and the VCIP, including C15 Studios, Richard Young, Classic Awards, Media 22, Angostura Limited, NGC, HRMATT, MusicTT, Lush Kingdom, Aveda Day Spa (LCM), Tilis Dollhouse, and K2K Alliance. The event also received support from MusicTT, FashionTT’s sister company, which sponsored the live entertainment featuring local superstar Ola.

In her closing remarks, FashionTT’s General Manager, Lisa-Marie Daniel, conveyed words of encouragement and gratitude. She emphasised that each certificate symbolises skill mastery and the spirit of innovation and resilience within Trinidad and Tobago’s fashion industry. Daniel expressed appreciation for sponsors, supporters, and The UWI for their integral roles in the program’s success.
